About the Event
Dr Nick Mayhew-Smith, author and researcher, will be exploring the sacred heritage of Dorset, celebrating both the natural and built heritage of sacred sites. His illustrated talk will guide us through the county’s many Pilgrim Places, from ancient churches and holy wells to earthworks and sacred trees, highlighting how these landscapes inspire reflection and connection for modern pilgrims that resonate with wider narratives across Britain.

Head of Whitelands College at Roehampton University, Nick has written extensively on spirituality, heritage, and the environment. His acclaimed works include Britain’s Holiest Places (adapted into a six-part BBC series), The Naked Hermit, Britain’s Pilgrim Places, and Landscape Liturgies. Since then, he has produced other books on pilgrimage and environmental spirituality.
