Herbal medicine is one of the oldest healing therapies practised over thousands of years.
Medieval folk would have relied on their spiritual beliefs and the plants to heal themselves. The nuns of Shaftesbury Abbey had a specific duty of care for the sick and they would have known how to cultivate and make medicines from the herbs for the people.
