Shaftesbury Abbey Museum Needs You!

Shaftesbury Abbey Museum is looking for additional volunteers to act as stewards to welcome visitors to the gardens this season. We are currently open Saturdays and Sundays 10am to 4pm with FREE admission.

At Shaftesbury Abbey we are passionate about our heritage and our pivotal place in Shaftesbury’s history. The Abbey is part of Shaftesbury’s story and adds toits attraction as a place to live and to visit.

The Abbey is a self-supporting charity which relies on the income generated by admission fees and events -it would not survive without our valued team of volunteers – and we need more!

We are looking for friendly volunteers (from 18 years upwards) who enjoy meeting people.

Museum stewards’ tasks include meeting and greeting visitors, taking money from shop sales, recording any comments or feedback, and generally ensuring that visitors enjoy their experience. The time you could give is up to you – from a couple of hours to a half or full day – either in the shop or as an outdoor steward.

We are fully compliant with Visit Britain’s ‘Good to Go’ Covid-19 scheme and have social distancing and hygiene measures in place. The museum buildings remain closed and we are allowing visitors in the gardens only.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer please email manager@shaftesburyabbey.org.uk or call Penny-Jane Swift on 07988 908841
